The recent celebration of the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ offers a good opportunity to reflect on our communion with Christ and one another. Our life is a communion among each other in Christ. Our communal life is centered on Christ, and we go forth for him. The quality of our communal life matters since it reflects our communion in Christ. Of course, this is the ideal that we strive for but recognize that it can sometimes be a challenge to live in such communion with one another and those we serve.

During our upcoming National Assembly, we will reflect on some of these challenges and opportunities through discussing how we can live a more fruitful communal life. We will look at wellness and mental health, intergenerationality, communal spiritual life, and animating local communities. We can learn from one another in all our diversity. Our National Assembly is a time of communion with one another in Christ as we serve the Church and the world.

As a witness of our communion with the Church, we are pleased to announce that the new Apostolic Nuncio to the United States, Archbishop Gabriele Caccia, will be joining us for our National Assembly. As Nuncio, he serves as the personal representative of our Holy Father and Augustinian brother, Pope Leo XIV, who has made communion with one another in Christ one of the themes of his pontificate. Archbishop Caccia will celebrate and preach at our Mass on Wednesday, July 22nd. We are honored that in the first two months of his time as Nuncio he will take the time to journey to Phoenix to join us.

If you are considering participating in our National Assembly, then we hope that you do. If you are coming to Phoenix, then we look forward to seeing you there!

In prayerful solidarity,
Frank Donio, SAC
