Ordinary Time. Is it really so ordinary? Before the liturgically-minded point out that the term is not referring to the everyday but to marking time in sequence, it might be worth stopping in the new year and reflecting on where we are in day to day life. Even when we do, we know that the days, weeks, and months in leadership pass rapidly moving from issue to issue, event to event, ministry to ministry, and community member to community member. Ordinary Time at the start of the year offers a short period between the seasons of Christmas and Lent to stop, reflect, discern, and decide on the way we lead.

May these few days of Ordinary Time at the beginning of the year be a time of reflection and renewal that deepen the commitment to serve our brothers as Christ did, humbly and lovingly.

In prayerful solidarity,

Frank Donio, SAC

Executive Director
